Apple Cup is quickly approaching (November 26)!
And it's that time to dress the cat up again!
Sweater pattern is by DIY Maven, the patterns in the sweaters all done by me.

GO HUSKIES!

Web of Winter Slouchy Hat

I just made a gorgeous hat!! I love it.  it was made from Lamb's Pride Bulky wool, and it was followed from a pattern by Natalie Thouret Brock.  I absolutely love this hat.

Here are some photos!

New favorite hat! :)

And of course the cat was involved too.

Soul Eater: Death the Kid Beanie Slouch (Pattern)

OK! So I totally forgot I had a pattern for this, even after I said I would post one!! Just a reminder this is Death the Kid from that anime:

And here's my beanie:

And now the pattern:
Preface: One thing about this pattern is that I like to make a "faux" double crochet instead of the usual chain 2 that you normally start a new row with that *acts* as a dc.  You may choose to do the usual chain 2 after you complete a round to start a new round, or you may choose to try the faux double crochet.  I love doing the "faux" way because it looks more natural.
Please see this youtube video: How to do a Faux (no chain) Double Crochet

Hook: J
If you'd like a tighter fit, change to lower hook size
With main color (black):
Row 1: Magic ring with 9 dc, slip stitch into top of first dc.
Row 2: ch 2 OR faux dc into the same stitch, another dc in the same stitch.  2 dc in each dc around. slip stitch into top of ch 2 or faux dc. (18)
Row 3: faux dc into same stitch, 2 dc in the next dc. *dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc.* repeat * to * around.  slip stitch into top of faux dc (27)
Row 4: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next. *dc in the next 2 dc, 2 dc in the next* repeat * to * around. slip stitch into top of faux dc (36)
Row 5: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next 2 dc, 2 dc in the next. *dc in the next 3 dc, 2 dc in the next* repeat * to * around. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (45)
Row 6: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next 3 dc, 2 dc in the next. *dc in the next 4 dc, 2 dc in the next* repeat * to * around. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (56)
Row 7: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next 7 dc, 2 dc in the next.  *dc in the next 8 dc, 2 dc in the next* repeat * to * around. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (60)
Row 8: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next 8 dc, 2 dc in the next.  *dc in the next 9 dc, 2 dc in then next* repeat * to * around. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (66)
Row 9: faux dc in same stitch, dc in every dc. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (66)
Row 10: repeat Row 9.  switch to white yarn (66)

Row 11: with white: faux dc in same stitch, dc in next 32 dc.  switch to black yarn, dc in next 33 dc. Slip stitch into top of faux dc, switch to white yarn.  (66)
Row 12: repeat Row 11 (66)
Row 13: repeat Row 11, but do not switch to white yarn at the end. (66)
Row 14-15: with black: dc in every dc. (66)

Ok! that's it! Just make sure you switch colors correctly, I tried to explain it but it just sounded confusing..

Lemme kno if there are any questions! I listed the total stitches at the end of each row just in case I screwed up somewhere in there.  Have fun!

Aki Con 2011

My boyfriend and I met up with a couple friends to check out this Aki Con over in Bellevue.  We dressed up on Saturday, and did the rest of the shopping on Sunday. It was pretty neat -very small, especially compared to Sakura con.  I feel like more people here are friendlier, and more likely to socialize with others.  Anyways, it was pretty hilarious because my bf and our friend decided to do a LARPing competition hahah it was GREAT.  pretty funny.  We dressed up from Soul Eater, and yes I dragged my death scythe around in this small place..

Anyways here are some photos of our time there.

On Sunday, the majority of that time was watching my bf and our friend LARP and it was just kind of hilarious.. but not a whole lot of photos from that -  just videos!

Anyways that was our first Aki Con!

Lucky Mug!

So I got my boyfriend to join me in my pottery painting experience.. and it was so awesome hahaha.  He took.. like.. FOREVER painting his.. i mean i knew that some guys are like "ew why would i paint pottery" but then once they start, they have extreme attention to detail it's crazy.  Anyways, so I wanted my mug to contain clovers.  4 leaf clovers to be exact. So it's like, my lucky mug! I actually ended up loving the way it turned out - i mean, wouldn't you want to buy this at the store?!??!!? It could be like my own collection. The Lillian Wong collection. Eh.. that sounds really weird.  I'll just call it the.. Pearl Collection.  Anyways that's years down the road when i can actually learn how to be artsy but for now maybe i was just REALLY lucky.. hahaha..anyways

My mug!

My boyfriend's mug!

Oooo and I made a WATERMELON COASTER!! So there IS some kind of crochet in this blog at least.........well here's the watermelon coaster for my mug! Pattern is by Yarn Pixie.

Watermelon (BFF) Bowls !

Oh my gosh I can't believe I havn't posted this yet - I just recently got into pottery painting!! Like, you go buy some ceramic pottery at the pottery place and just paint away - they will glaze it for you for free!!! Anyways, I started a teapot back in when I was in grad school right before I graduated. It turned out kind of.... funnny........... not quite what I expected.  But no photos of that ANYWAY.  however, I found a place over in east Bellevue (WA) and I LOVED their collection. I have yet to find an even bigger store.   Their website is here : http://www.paintedbykathy.com/

Anyways I managed to convince my bff to paint, and she convinced a few of our mutual friends to come along too and paint!! haha so it was this semi large painting party and i think we were the oldest ones there...

We ended up painting WATERMELON BOWLS! We call these the "BFF Bowls" . Because when you put the two together you make one :) AWWWWW <3

After it is painted
After it's glazed!

Anyways hers came out a lot nicer because she made it nicer.. hahaha i was a bit sloppy but overall i was still happy! Oh gosh wait for the next post... I got my boyfriend to paint with me :)
