Bat Cat!

OH my it's been a while since I last made a post. But since me and my friend started a website, it's been so busy !! Please visit LiftedGeek.com! and like us on facebook!  I have a section devoted to Fib in all his costumes along with a funny comic to go with it. The section is called "My Poor Kitty"

Meanwhile i'll continue to post my crochet projects on here, but it will also have more and maybe even patterns on the website.

For now, this post will be about Bat Cat! A full on bat costume for the one and only, my cat.
He actually crawled into it...

and there's the back!

The Feline Flash!

I did it... I made a full body costume for the cat!!!!  ok minus the booties, that would be too mean ;)  he actually hates the booties hahaha.  But everything else he is fine!! I am pretty happy about the way it turned out, and I'm sure he is too ;) hahaha.  Surprisingly he is ok with that on his head... at least until nap time. Just because of how awesome this costume is, I uploaded a video for everyone's entertainment, and to see how fast he can go! ;)  After all, he is The Flash! [(c) DC Comics]

Meanwhile, here are some other pictures of him and my work :)

Spider Man Cat!

The Amazing Spider Man movie came out this last week! My boyfriend and I saw it this weekend, and so it definitely inspired me to make my cat a spider man sweater !

The spider design took some time, i had to draw it out in the paint program at first .. but it turned out well!

Unfortunately there is no spidey mask (SORRY!), i thought about it.. and i really really really want to make one! But for some reason my mind can't wrap around how to do it.  I can add ear holes alright but i can't seem to think about how to make the eyes work.  it's possible i'm sure but I'm too lazy to look into it .  The sweater is cool enough anyway :)

Leprechaun Cat!!

YES I DID!!!!!
My little leprechaun! Sweater again based on DIY Maven, except I extended the rows by 6 or something. maybe more. The yarn was basically chunky; used green super saver + worsted weight light green together with a G hook.  I didn't have the right color green so i thought i'd mix :) the hat again is custom.

ok photos!

I wanted to add like a green pipe cleaner thingy and making a clover stick out of his hat. But I don't have any :( it woulda been so cute if I could!!

HAPPY ST PATTYS!

Santa's Little Helper Cat!

Well first of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR!
However, let's back track a little bit since I'm obviously a little behind with what i'm about to show you all (hence the title of the post).

The christmas season was quite busy, and getting that time off to be with my family and other half was extremely busy I just didn't have time to post Fibby's new outfit!

I originally meant to put Butternut (my family's persian cat) into the Santa outfit I made last year for Fibby and with Fibby in his new Elf outfit and take photos of them side by side. But I just didn't get that chance :(

Well here's the outfit! Again, credit goes to Diy Maven for the sweater; I modified again and elongated it, and then added in the others.

Enjoy!

I didn't actually end up making a "chin strap" on the hat, i don't know why. I guess I just didn't think about it!

But anyways, Fib as usual doesn't care so much about having these sweaters on, and ended up sleeping with them on with me, purring away! It's just great to have a dog-like cat!

Apple Cup is quickly approaching (November 26)!
And it's that time to dress the cat up again!
Sweater pattern is by DIY Maven, the patterns in the sweaters all done by me.

Link Hat for the Cat! (pattern)

I plan to make this hat into an ELF HAT soon!!! I have tons of things I plan to do.. but for now this can be like... a Link Hat. Link from Zelda, Link wearing a pumpkin sweater, whatever your imagination is..  Change the color to Red and add some popcorn stitches and you get a Santa Hat!

But for those of you just needing some guide on how to make spaces for those cute lil ears, here's what I do for my cat hats:

Used a G hook for this, worsted weight yarn.

rnd 1: 5 sc in ring (5)
rnd 2: 5 sc around (5)
rnd 3: 2 sc in every sc (10)
rnd 4: 1 sc in every sc (10)
rnd 5: [2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 4 sc] repeat around (12)
rnd 6: 1 sc in every sc (12)
rnd 7: [2 sc in next, sc in next 3 sc] repeat around (15)
rnd 8: 1 sc in every sc (15)
rnd 9: [2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 2] repeat around (20)
rnd 10: [2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 4 sc] repeat around (24)
rnd 11: [2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 5 sc] repeat around (28)
rnd 12 [2 sc in next sc, sc in the next 6] repeat around (32)

ok now for ears..
rnd 13: ch 20, skip 7 sc, slip stitch into 8th sc and sc in the next 8sc.
ch 20, skip 7 sc, slip stitch into 8th sc and sc in the next 8sc.
rnd 14: sc into each sc and chain. Slip stitch into last sc.

TADA!

3 inches for the base. Stop lookin at my terrible nails...

My rule of thumb is to make sure the base of the hat is around 3 inches and then from there start making the spaces for the ears. I like the base of the hat to sit a little bit on the ears but not enough to make their ears go completely flat.  You may choose to shorten the chains if you like if it is also too large.

I usually like to add a chin strap, like if the character may have a beard, then i'll add a beard and make that a "chin strap".  oooo I can't wait for St. Pattys Day.... >:)

Now go make some kitty hats!!!!

Pumpkin Cat!

It's about that time, time for a new sweater for my sweet baby Fib! I made another sweater, this time halloween based, and the pattern is based on DIY Maven's sweater, except i extended the sweater to make it longer.  It's a great pattern because it doesn't restrict the movement of the cat, and i believe many cats could wear this too.

Enjoy!! He was purring so loudly in all these photos~!

He's "kneading"

Santa Cat!

Gosh I meant to keep up with posts but Christmas break has been so busy!
I've created a santa outfit for my cute little cat, and he just runs around in it like no big deal :D but it does eventually come off.

The christmas sweater is a modification from the candy corn sweater from DIY Maven.  The hat I did completely on my own, and unfortunately do not have a pattern for - I just winged it :D The "chin strap" is the beard as well.

And yes there were definitely some booties :)

The whole outfit, but only half the booties

Where the arms go through

Top of his hat!
Merry Christmas ! a little late now i guess..

Even our family cat, Butternut, got to wear it, but he doesn't really look that happy about it...
