Turquoise Beret Hat!

Omgoodness i've been slacking on posting my projects! It's been a while since I've come up with my own stuff.. I should .. really try to create an awesome hat, but i'm not that gifted yet :)

This one is by Pierrot Yarns, it's a japanese yarn website (in english) and provides many many free patterns (japanese)! I particular was fond of this Beret.  I think i followed it as is, but extended the band a few more rows, and repeated round 9 six more times instead of four.  Overall this is my new favorite spring hat to wear, and I've already received so many compliments already!

I used Cascade Wool Yarn for this project.

it's kind of weird the close photos look a little heathery, but it's not! It's a gorgeous turquoise (or teal) just like in the bottom photo.  I love the way it looks!

Web of Winter Slouchy Hat

I just made a gorgeous hat!! I love it.  it was made from Lamb's Pride Bulky wool, and it was followed from a pattern by Natalie Thouret Brock.  I absolutely love this hat.

Here are some photos!

New favorite hat! :)

And of course the cat was involved too.

Soul Eater: Death the Kid Beanie Slouch (Pattern)

OK! So I totally forgot I had a pattern for this, even after I said I would post one!! Just a reminder this is Death the Kid from that anime:

And here's my beanie:

And now the pattern:
Preface: One thing about this pattern is that I like to make a "faux" double crochet instead of the usual chain 2 that you normally start a new row with that *acts* as a dc.  You may choose to do the usual chain 2 after you complete a round to start a new round, or you may choose to try the faux double crochet.  I love doing the "faux" way because it looks more natural.
Please see this youtube video: How to do a Faux (no chain) Double Crochet

Hook: J
If you'd like a tighter fit, change to lower hook size
With main color (black):
Row 1: Magic ring with 9 dc, slip stitch into top of first dc.
Row 2: ch 2 OR faux dc into the same stitch, another dc in the same stitch.  2 dc in each dc around. slip stitch into top of ch 2 or faux dc. (18)
Row 3: faux dc into same stitch, 2 dc in the next dc. *dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc.* repeat * to * around.  slip stitch into top of faux dc (27)
Row 4: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next dc, 2 dc in the next. *dc in the next 2 dc, 2 dc in the next* repeat * to * around. slip stitch into top of faux dc (36)
Row 5: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next 2 dc, 2 dc in the next. *dc in the next 3 dc, 2 dc in the next* repeat * to * around. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (45)
Row 6: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next 3 dc, 2 dc in the next. *dc in the next 4 dc, 2 dc in the next* repeat * to * around. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (56)
Row 7: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next 7 dc, 2 dc in the next.  *dc in the next 8 dc, 2 dc in the next* repeat * to * around. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (60)
Row 8: faux dc in same stitch, dc in the next 8 dc, 2 dc in the next.  *dc in the next 9 dc, 2 dc in then next* repeat * to * around. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (66)
Row 9: faux dc in same stitch, dc in every dc. Slip stitch into top of faux dc. (66)
Row 10: repeat Row 9.  switch to white yarn (66)

Row 11: with white: faux dc in same stitch, dc in next 32 dc.  switch to black yarn, dc in next 33 dc. Slip stitch into top of faux dc, switch to white yarn.  (66)
Row 12: repeat Row 11 (66)
Row 13: repeat Row 11, but do not switch to white yarn at the end. (66)
Row 14-15: with black: dc in every dc. (66)

Ok! that's it! Just make sure you switch colors correctly, I tried to explain it but it just sounded confusing..

Lemme kno if there are any questions! I listed the total stitches at the end of each row just in case I screwed up somewhere in there.  Have fun!

Lael Viking Hat with Custom Beard!

Whew finally getting back into crocheting, had a dry spell there. I recently got a request to make this Lael Viking Hat by Tara Murray, which you can find her pattern on Etsy.com.  I was asked to make this hat for my friend's baby, and it turned out really well!

gotta have the cat try it on..

BABY HAT!!!!!! isn't he adorable?
Then I got a request from my friend's friend! This is probably the first time I've gotten a request from someone I don't know.  But he needed the hat with a beard, and so I used the same pattern for the hat in a medium, but the beard was all done by me!
Here it is.. modeled by my wonderful boyfriend.

the braids :)

RAWR! <3
This took me probably just in total 4-5 hours to put together.  Hope the guy likes it !

Pixie Ear Flap Hat

I had some chunky Misti Alpaca yarn laying around but I bought a long time ago, and I figured i'd make some use of it... A hat!  I love ear flap hats, but only when there's a pixie tail part.

Small ear flaps... but it works :)

Beard Hat

A friend of mine had posted this photo on my facebook page, asking me to replicate this exact same beard hat:

So... Here it is!!! no pattern, just winged it!

GRR!!! hahahahaha

Hope it fits him, it's a lil big on me but I figured it'd fit my friend just fine. Hell it fit my boyfriend's face! so it should work out.

I used alternating triple crochet and single crochet for the beard, and I even made a lil mustache! it's curly too :)

I have another request from another friend of mine as well, so i'll have to get on that!

St. Patty's Day Hat

Yay another reason to make a hat~!! St. Patty's Day! I winged all this! The only thing is, I don't know how to make the hat stay up >.<

The four leaf clover I give credit to quietraineknits, wonderful clover.  Though I think the pattern is meant for lower weighted yarn and I used cheap yucky yarn.  lol

Anyways enjoy!

Soul Eater: Death the Kid Beanie (slouch)

I love Soul Eater, this anime, and there's this incredibly OCD character in the series named Kid in the series.  As much as he is OCD about everything in life being as symmetrically perfect as possible, the only thing that isn't symmetrically is a permanent feature of his hair: only half is head is striped.

I decided I'd like to wing the first version of my beanie in honor of his asymmetrical head.  This is going to be more of a slouchy look, and the next one I will make more fitted and less slouchy.

Once I get a solid beanie going, I'll post a pattern :)

UW Beanie

I made a beanie!! for my boyfriend :)
I based it off the beanie pattern from aprildraven.blogspot.com, and among many other beanie patterns there are out there which are similar.  I really need to start paying attention and writing out my patterns... I've just been wingin it lately.
